27 July 2010 A Mountainous Scottish Challenge

The great Lairig Ghru walk, organized by Judith Miller, was successfully completed on Saturday 24th July 2010.

On a damp and cloudy day, an intrepid group of 20 - all ages from 14 (Lydia Dalrymple) to 65 (Anthony Dalzell) - completed an exhausting 22 mile trek across the Central Cairngorms from Linn of Dee, near Braemar, to Coylumbridge, near Aviemore. The walk, which took the group to an altitude of 900M in remote and exposed terrain along a high bolder-strewn pass - close to four of the five highest peaks in the UK - was completed in about 8 hours and with only a few minor injuries. On the next day, the walkers and supporters attended a delicious celebratory Barbeque provided and organized by Paul & Claire Hearson, bringing an end to a very worthwhile event in Dougie's memory.

We would love to hear from you if you know of any soldier (whether current or past), family member or any project that might benefit from our help.
