The Battle Back Golf programme started in August 2009. Supporting over 140 wounded, injured or sick service personnel, golf is now one of the most popular Battle Back sports.
The events culminate in an annual fixture which sees 10 golfers participate in a Ryder Cup style tournament against members of Wounded Warrior Project. The teams compete for the Captain Pietsch Trophy played on an annual basis on alternate sides of the Atlantic. Battle Back are the current holders of the trophy after an impressive win in Florida last year.
In August of this year, the DDMT was proud to make a donation of £5000 to enable the 2014 event to take place at Walton Heath Surrey and today we have received from Adam Cocks, the first photographs from yesterday's play.
Adam's partner Mahendra is pictured below. Mahendra knew of Dougie as his men 'B Comp 1RGR' took over from Dougie's patrol moments after his death. Two months later Mahendra was blown up 200metres from the Dougie. Mahendra is Battle Back's best golfer and now plays off 6 so good luck to the yanks..!
