DDMT is proud to have made a donation to support veterans training with The Brathay Trust.
This Trust has developed a relationship with Future for Heroes to train veterans with poor mental health to work as Expedition Leaders with young disadvantaged 14 to 25 year olds.
The aim for veterans is to encourage them to consider their futures, manage stress, increase awareness of their talents and gain a better understanding of the skills and qualities they gained during their military careers.
DDMT was approached earlier this year with a request for funding for the "Explore Leaders Project" which will support Brathay's canoe based expeditions down the Great Glen from Fort William to Inverness. The result will be a team of skilled veterans who will be selected to ensure they fit with the Objects of the DDMT Charity and who will support some of the young people Brathay works with.
Brathay's fundraiser, Julia Wilson said "We're so grateful for DDMT's support. Its a great way for the veterans involved to regain a sense of purpose in their lives."
We would love to hear from you if you know of any soldier (whether current or past), family member or any project that might benefit from our help.
