Soldiers in Mind

Soldiers in Mind was a free independent service for military families affected in the line of military duty. It was funded by the DDMT and separate from the military:  February 2012 through to end Operation Herrick 2014

SiM continues to offer training and consultancy to other professionals and organisations working with military families, although the work of providing support for bereaved families, welfare support and coordination of services for families and educational briefs in respect of pre-deployment, R&R and homecoming came to an end in March 2014 with the end of deployment of troops to Afghanistan.   It was supported by the Lt Dougie Dalzell MC Memorial Trust.

In particular SiM:

  1.  Provided support to recently bereaved families
  2.  Worked closely with the welfare teams of battalions who  experienced casualties and losses while on tour in Afghanistan
  3.  Provided educational briefs
  4.  Worked to co-ordinate and inform other agencies involved in supporting families.

In everything they did, Soldiers in Mind supported the men and women fighting for our country and those who were supporting them.

SiM continues to offer training and consultancy to other professionals and organisations working with military families.

A full Evaluation of the work of SiM, prepared for the Trustees of the Lt Dougie Dalzell MC Memorial Trust, is available here.

We would love to hear from you if you know of any soldier (whether current or past), family member or any project that might benefit from our help.
